JAXAの「はやぶさ２」ミッションは、2020年12月、オーストラリアに着陸したカプセルで、小惑星リュウグウのサンプル粒子5.4グラムを地球に持ち帰ることに成功しました。
「はやぶさ２」は2014年12月に打ち上げられ、2018年に小惑星リュウグウに到着、そして2019年に2回のタッチダウンでリュウグウの試料を収集しました。
現在日本をはじめ、世界中の科学者がこのサンプル粒子を研究しており、これにより地球型惑星の起源と進化、水の起源、そして地球上の有機物に関してより多くの知識が得られると期待されています。
こうした研究のすべての領域が地球上の生命を理解するうえで極めて重要な意味を持ちます。
地球生命研究所 (ELSI)と東京工業大学博物館は、工大祭の期間中（2023年10月28，29日）、リュウグウのサンプル粒子を展示いたします。
会場は東京工業大学博物館で、入場無料、オンライン予約システムでの事前予約が必要です。
Hayabusa2 returned to Earth with grains from the asteroid Ryugu in December 2020. These asteroid grains are mostly studied by scientists in Japan and around the world. They expect to understand origins of life on Earth by studying these grains. A sample grain from the asteroid will be on public display during the Tokyo Tech Festival – Koudaisai.
Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) and Tokyo Tech Museum will present a sample grain from the asteroid Ryugu during the Tokyo Tech Festival – Koudaisai on 28 and 29 October 2023. The exhibition will be held at the Tokyo Tech Museum. The entry is free and pre-booking is required from the online ticket system.
